Grading & Report Cards

In the 2025-2026 school year, Houston Independent School District (HISD) will continue to use six-week grading periods for all schools.

• Grading Cycles: HISD operates on six-week grading cycles. 
• Report Card Dates: Report cards are issued at the end of each six-week grading period. 
• 2025-2026 Calendar: The first six-week cycle begins on August 12, 2025, and ends on September 19, 2025. The corresponding report card is issued on September 26, 2025. 
• Midpoint Progress Reports: If a student is not progressing satisfactorily, parents may receive preliminary progress reports at the midpoint of the grading period and at other times as needed.

• HISD Connect (PowerSchool): Parents can access grades, attendance, and report cards through the HISD Connect portal or the PowerSchool app. 
• Grade Scale: In middle and high school, grades are typically reported on a 0-100 scale. 
• Academic Grades:
  • A: 90-100 (Excellent) 
  • B: 80-89 (Good) 
  • C: 75-79 (Satisfactory/Average) 
  • D: 70-74 (Passing/Below Average) 
  • F: Below 70 (Failing)
