School History
Audrey H. Lawson Middle School, located in Houston, Texas, is part of the Houston Independent School District (HISD). The school is named after Reverend Audrey Hoffman Lawson, a respected community leader, pastor, and advocate for youth and education. She co-founded Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church with her husband, Rev. William Lawson, and dedicated her life to service and empowerment in Houston’s Third Ward.
The school was established to provide students in the area with a supportive, high-quality educational environment. It emphasizes academic achievement, character development, and community involvement. Over the years, Audrey H. Today, Audrey H. Lawson Middle School is a fine arts magnet school within HISD, offering a Gifted & Talented program and Project Lead The Way curriculum.
